On smoother, low-friction surfaces such as snow or grass, it may be possible to haul loads up to 600 lb (270 kg) under ideal conditions. However, this exceeds the recommended working capacity and should be done at the user’s discretion.

Performance at that level depends heavily on factors like surface type, friction, weight distribution, and the absence of obstacles.

Exceeding 300 lb is considered outside optimal usage and may increase wear or risk of damage.

While the sled is built to handle serious weight, responsible use is key. To ensure optimal performance and durability:

• Avoid sharp or highly abrasive surfaces like exposed rock or pavement.
• Distribute weight evenly across the sled.

Yes. The Huntek GameSled is built to perform in extreme cold—down to -40°C (-40°F)—without cracking or compromising its durability. Like all plastics, it becomes less flexible as temperatures drop, so shape transitions (such as unrolling or flattening) may take slightly longer. However, this doesn’t affect its performance. With proper use, the sled remains a reliable tool even in the most demanding winter environments.

The GameSled™ is recommended for up to 300 lbs for optimal handling and long-term durability, though hunters have successfully hauled 350–400 lbs in the right conditions (wooded trails, even load distribution, controlled speed). We don’t inflate numbers — our ratings are based on proven field use.

It’s handled cow moose and young bulls, as well as smaller elk, but for a full-size bull moose, the weight and bulk make a one-piece recovery impractical. In those cases, quartering the animal or making multiple trips is the better approach.

The limiting factor for larger game is usually bulk, not strength. On smooth or forested ground, it can be hauled flat for oversized loads; on rocky or abrasive terrain, expect more wear on the sides and lashing rope. Where it truly shines is in being a highly portable yet incredibly capable tool for whitetail, black bear, and similar game — ready for the toughest hauls in its class.
